For two years Thialf underwent a complete metamorphosis. In November 2016 the worldwide known ice skating temple opened its doors to the public. As part of the renovation, Heuvelman installed a complete digital signage system. 120 LED displays make sure the public and business guests are provided with relevant information.
In the stadium a total of 120 LED displays were installed for the digital signage system. The screens, varying between 43 and 49 inch, contribute to the goal of Thialf to always supply their guests with high quality content. The displays are used to communicate signage, live images of the matches, catering information and commercials. The displays are spread over nine different zones. From one managing system the content on the digital signage and the IPTV network can be controlled. Monitoring the displays occurs remotely using Heartbeat: a system designed by Heuvelman.
IPTV is a technique whereby the television signal is broadcasted via the IP-protocol instead of the traditional COAX- cables. IPTV and the digital signage system are both running on the same network. IPTV delivers superior image quality, videos on-demand and an own channel. This channel can be used for the digital signage system.
Thialf has various ice facilities for recreational ice skaters like the 400 and 333 meter track and the scribble track for the little ones and an ice hockey arena. Beside ice skating and top sport facilities Thialf offers numerous possibilities for the business market. Thialf and Heuvelman both have a passion for sport. Thialf is the ice skating heart of the Netherlands and is the spot where since 1890 sport history was being written. Every year Heuvelman takes care of the technique for numerous sport events, such as Jumping Amsterdam, AFAS Tennis Classics and the Delta Lloyd Regatta. We were also intimately involved with events such as the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, World Championship Hockey and the World Championship Beach volleyball.
