This year, the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Summit was hosted in Geneva. During the summit, the 5th anniversary of the 2012 London Declaration was celebrated. This declaration treats and prevents NTD’s among the world’s poorest populations. Commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Uniting to Combat NTD’s, Heuvelman supported the Special Event and the Award Show that were part of the five-day summit.
The kick-off of the summit was the CEO Round Table. Besides leaders of governments, pharmaceutical companies, and charitable organizations, director of the foundation, Bill Gates, and general-director of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Margaret Chan were present. Together they looked back on and celebrated the achievements of the past years. Heuvelman took care of the full technical production as set and stage design, sound and light plan and furniture. Spectacular was the widescreen production of 32 by 4 meter (105 by 13 feet). Using six Barco HDX projectors resulted in a pixel precise view. The projected content was filmed in 180 degrees and surround recorded. This combination of sound and vision gave an ultimate ambilight experience by which the guests got the feeling to be in the middle of it. Furthermore, achievements were showed on the screen via remarkable data visualisation.
The following day, the crucial role of women in defeating NTD’s was celebrated during an Award Show. Heuvelman technically supported the ‘Women in Focus Awards’. The night ended with a fantastic performance of Angélique Kidjo and her band.
